I do it in a similar way - SH3_Cmdr but not by date, by flotillas. At the moment i don't have problems with the MP3 format - i have 30+ min symphonic suites and they will play from beginning to the end.
To convert MP3 into OGG i suggest
Audacity, a very mighty tool - and freeware.
