I highly recommend the mod especially with the expert optional mod in it. It changes a lot of things including adding flyable and improving the cockpits and game terrain. The optional expert mod also changes the flight model of many aircraft supposedly so that they become more realistic but playing with this online requires server that runs the mod too and there are some dedicated servers for it.
Other thing I love is that the mod made the AI seems to be more humane instead the super sniper and psychic super ace pilot they are
in stock.
The mod uses JSGME and the mod latest incarnation(newest version) is released on March 2011. So it's quite a new mod. It really vastly improved the game. The mod requires the latest 10.1 official patch.
The mod is quite big about 6x650Mb file plus about additional 200Mb.
