Yes, I usually run at Full speed and try and 'reel it in' before going to Flank.
If I've got the 'first shot advantage', I usually go below (or above) the layer to fire - I suppose reeling in the TA should also be part of the 'preparing to fire' sequence!
I just 'redid' that scenario where my LA Flt 1 is stalking a Foxtrot - going 7 kts with the TA fully out, I got an accurate solution on him at 22,000 yds (that's more than 10 NM!)
