Some nekulturny bastard got the notion that corps-level commands were overrated and decided to send out an order to get rid of them all behind my back. As a result, I've had to reorganize the entire Red Army. On the plus side, this has resolved most of the discombobulation in our chain of command for the time being.
Northern Front: This front has not yet been reorganized. Formations facing the Finnish front are made up of two commands:
- 7th Independent Army - 3x Rifle Divisions
- 23rd Army - 5x Rifle Divisions
The Finns advance slowly but surely. We've abandoned the front line positions to set up defensive positions along both sides of Lake Ladoga.
Northwestern Front: The new order of battle for this front is as follows:
- 27th Army - 7x Rifle Divisions, 1x Rifle Brigade
- 8th Army - 3x Rifle Divisions, 2x Rifle Brigades
- 22nd Army - 8x Rifle Divisions, 1x Tank Division, 1x Motorized Division, 1x Rifle Brigades, 1x Mountain Brigade
- 11th Army - 6x Rifle Divisions, 2x Tank Divisions, 1x Motorized Division, 3x Airborne Brigades
A concentrated attack by the German XXVI Corps finally dislodged Riga's defenders. Further to the east, the Germans broke through to the shores of Lake Peipus, encircling two divisions in the process and splitting our line in two. If the Germans continue attacking to the west, we might have to withdraw from the Baltics completely. An attack east could be more dangerous if the German units facing the Western Front can coordinate a breakthrough to encircle our forces.
Western Front: The new order of battle for this front is as follows:
- 31st Army - 8x Rifle Divisions, 3x Tank Divisions, 1x Motorized Division
- 24th Army - 11x Rifle Divisions
- 13th Army - 10x Rifle Divisions, 1x Motorized Division, 1x Cavalry Division
- 20th Army - 5x Rifle Divisions, 2x Tank Divisions, 1x Motorized Division, 3x Airborne Brigades
- 21st Army - 16x Rifle Divisions, 3x Airborne Brigades
- 4th Army - 5x Rifle Divisions, 3x Tank Divisions, 1x Motorized Division
- 3rd Army - 1x Rifle Division, 3x Cavalry Divisions
The 4th Army is held in reserve in front of Smolensk. It is combat ready but under-strength. The 3rd Army has been hastily reconstituted in the Pripyat Marshes and is far from combat-effective.
The enemy has made another push at Mogilev but they've yet to make another penetration exceeding 10 miles beyond the Drut river. In a notable engagement, the 18th and 229th Rifle Divisions have managed to destroy 41 German tanks in battle with the 7th and 20th Panzer Divisions. Some of the 31st Army's units are in a perilous position, having just been at the rear of the enemy lines, but they're being pulled back to defensive positions.
Southwestern Front: The new order of battle for this front is as follows:
- 16th Army - 9x Rifle Divisions, 2x Tank Divisions, 1x Motorized Division, 1x AT Brigade
- 19th Army - 7x Rifle Divisions, 2x Tank Divisions, 1x Motorized Division, 3x Airborne Brigades
- 6th Army - 6x Rifle Divisions, 4x Tank Divisions, 2x Cavalry Divisions
- 26th Army - 3x Rifle Divisions, 3x Mountain Divisions, 3x Motorized Divisions, 2x Tank Divisions
- 12th Army - 4x Rifle Divisions, 1x Mountain Division, 3x Tank Divisions, 2x Motorized Divisions, 2x AT Brigades
Due to incompetence on the northern flank the Germans managed to get through our lines and to the Pripyat Marshes. About 11 divisions holding the border have been cut off. The enemy's hold isn't very strong yet so we might be able to save some of these units. More reinforcements are being thrown into the Marshes to prevent a breakthrough. Elsewhere the line largely held against minor German attacks.
Southern Front: The new order of battle for this front is as follows:
- 18th Army - 8x Rifle Divisions, 2x Mountain Divisions, 1x Tank Division
- 9th Army - 7x Rifle Divisions, 1x Tank Division, 1x Motorized Division, 3x Cavalry Divisions
Because both these commands are stretched very thin, the newly established 29th Army has been assigned to this front by Stavka for future reorganization.
Minor clashes along the line. The Axis made two attempts to breach the Dniester but they were repulsed both times.
