Some people are born stupid; I've had to work all my life to get this way. I was being so careful to install it correctly, and I took to heart Samwolf's question to Steiner88:

I was very careful to make sure I did that, but when I booted up the game and started a career it crashed. So I tried it again and it crashed again. I finally figured it out: I hadn't installed any of the other files.

I cruised around the harbor, those locks, and the ships (and plane) parked all around them, are beautiful!
Can't wait to see the Brunsbuttel set.
