Actually it is. "X" has been a common reference for Christ for at least 1000 years."X" is the first letter of the Greek word for Christ, Χριστός. In 1100 or thereabouts the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle said it as ""Xpes mæsse".
Several of the Founding Fathers fairly consistently used "Xtian" as a substitute for "Christian".
I appreciate your sentiment, support it in fact, but you should get your facts straight before railing against a certain usage.
