Lets say you are going to intercept at the IF (intermediate fix) at 10 nm from the threshold and at an angle of 70 degrees.

Align the 10 of the speed scale (in this case the speed scale will act as distance) with the 70 of the degree scale.


Now heres the part that you have to have a previus knowledge of turn radius.

If you are flying at about 180kt ground speed, your turn radius is about 1nm.


Just look for 1 in the speed scale and read opposite to it the degrees, in relation to the final approach course, you have to start turning to be stablished on the localizer.
