There is a fairly bizarre explanation of what this song's about, and as I heard it, it was Jorma himself who said it.
"The North Wind Rise" could best be thought of as eating a big bowl of chili and some Brussel sprouts before getting under the blankets with the better half. At some point, you ruffle the blankets to share the experience.
