Any drawback to ramming them versus shooting at them?
I'm wondering if that would cause hull damage.
Haven't tried but I find that would be usefull when doing recon in enemy harbors and a fishing boat is on it way near you where surfacing and firing would draw the attention of nearby warships.

I've seen pictures of WWII subs with what looks like an battering ram in front. Sort of an arched metal protrusion.
