British submarine H42 sinks with the loss of all 24 crew after it is accidentally rammed by the destroyer HMS Versatile off Gibraltar.
Ship Losses:
HMS H42 (Royal Navy) The H-class submarine was rammed off Gibraltar by
HMS Versatile ( Royal Navy) and sank with the loss of all 22 crew.
Sakaki Maru (Japan) The cargo ship collided with
Eastern Sailor ( United States) in the Whangpo River, Shanghai, China and was beached.
Salamanca (Norway) The cargo ship was abandoned in the Bay of Biscay. Her crew were rescued by
Argonne ( France).
