I can add a couple of things. First, there's no wasted space on a submarine. Make use of every inch of space inside the pressure hull and outside too. Second, what goes down must come up. Think the SUBSAFE program. The rules and regs for SUBSAFE are written in blood by the mistakes or shortsightedness of designs past.
Also I think your biggest challenge here will be from an engineering aspect and not the design so much. 1000m is a long way down and a lot of pressure, making the use of HY80 or HY100 steel a necessity.
