Frozen assets of Russian Federation should be directed to reconstruction of Ukraine, - Borrell

The European Union will consider options for the transfer of frozen and confiscated assets of the Russian Federation for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Censor.NET reports.

"We have seized almost 20 billion euros from oligarchs and people who support Russia. In addition, we control about 300 billion euros of financial resources of the Central Bank of Russia. These funds should be directed to the reconstruction of Ukraine. So, I will meet with my colleagues, the foreign ministers affairs - today with far more ministers than those of the European Union. We will explore all legal options to make sure that Russia pays for the destruction it is causing to Ukraine.

These reserves are blocked, but there is a big difference between blocking and confiscation. There are legal procedures that need to be studied, but our proposal is on the table," he said. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3384296

All NATO countries support Ukraine’s membership in Alliance, - Stefanishyna

All 30 NATO member countries support the need for Ukraine’s future accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.

As Censor.NET reports, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna stated this during her speech at the Kyiv Security Forum.

"We have made progress in the issue of rapprochement with NATO. At the last ministerial meeting in Bucharest, all 30 NATO member countries agreed on the need to grant Ukraine membership in the Alliance... NATO members confirmed that the door is open to Ukraine," Stefanishyna emphasized.

According to her, such a decision differs from the one adopted by the leaders of the NATO countries at the summit in Bucharest in 2008. It is a "new powerful signal" and indicates the lack of fear of Russian pressure in the Alliance. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3384313

Ex-CIA director Petraeus named conditions for ending war in Ukraine

Successes of Ukraine on the battlefield, combined with the effect of economic sanctions against Russia, could lead to the end of the war.

This was said by the director of the CIA in 2011-12, General David Petraeus, during the Kyiv Security Forum, Censor.NET reports.

"Of course, this war will not end soon, unless the Russian troops are completely defeated," said the ex-head of the CIA.

"Ultimately, Ukraine will continue to liberate its territories and at a certain point, the combination of the situation on the battlefield and economic sanctions and export controls will convince the majority in Russia that this war cannot be continued," Petraeus stressed.

The general noted that then Russia will have to withdraw its troops, which has already lost more people in 9 months than in 10 years of war in Afghanistan. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3384320
