Well, we're talking about a scale where (if you REALLY wanted to "hyper-detail" your kit) you can argue that the hull above the waterline should be painted
by hand with the smallest "000" brush you can find.
Just enough where you can make out brush strokes in the paint. In port, sailors aren't issued a spray gun when its time to paint the boat. This is also the part where research becomes important- how long were these boats in service? Where were their homeports? How much weathering would be "too much"?
BTW, if you are interested in this build, just consider where its going to wind up. The actual length works out to 31 inches or 79 cm.
After the fitting, gluing, paintwork, and weathering- its going to need a place to sit.
