You should start from reading manual: Section 5 Training 5-6
Underwater Sound Propagation. Of course you can search internet for wider explanation of problem but simplest explanation is inside game folder, writed as
pdf file.
The truth is: range of of detection of any sonar in game is NOT constant.
I don't understand why so many players wanna waste time by asking on forums (where you have to wait for answer and replies arent always correct) instead reading interesting sections in game manual.
Btw Range of Spruance sonars is TOP SECRET information
