This is it, 'orphism'. And it is indeed Delaunay, in this case Mr. D.

The painting is called "Hommage ŕ Blériot No. 2", the detail depicts the rotary engine and propellor of a Blériot 11 plane of the time, with which B. had crossed the channel. This is the whole picture:



The french Delaunay was befriended with german Franz Marc and August Macke. While Marc and Macke went to fight in WW1, Delaunay went to Spain, reason being "not wanting to shoot at his friends".
Marc and Macke both died in the trenches.
