Finland celebrates its 23rd Independence Day.

Soviet Foreign Minister Molotov warns J.K. Paasikivi that a Neutrality Pact between Finland and Sweden would violate the terms of the Moscow Peace Treaty. (It only mentions alliances etc. directed against either party)

Molotov also lists the persons Soviet Union does not wish to see considered to become Finland's next President. The three names on the list are: Mannerheim, Kivimäki and Tanner.

Finnish composer Jean Sibelius turns 75.

Major-General Paavo Talvela meets with Generaloberst Franz Halder.

He also meets with Reichsmarschall Goering, who tells Talvela that Germany is also against the Neutrality Pact between Finland and Sweden.

Helsinki City Court orders the 'Finland-Soviet Union Peace and Friendship Society' to be disbanded.
