Default "Sink the Belgrano" by Mike Rossiter

I just finished "Sink the Belgrano" by Mike Rossiter and highly recommend it to any enthusiast of modern nuclear submarine warfare.

The book is an account of the sinking of the ARA Belgrano by the HMS Conquerer during the 1980s Falklands War, much of it recreated via personal interviews with the commanders and crew. The Conquerer becomes, and still is, the only nuclear submarine in history to have fired its torpedoes in anger and you get to hear the events from the perspective of the crew/commanders. Much of the book discusses the politics of the war as well.

All and all I thought it was eye opening. The diffulculties, series of mechanical failures, and muddled politics, that the Conquerer overcame to successfully complete its mission were surprising and its not often that laypersons can get a glimpse into the reality of modern sub combat. Overall a good read.
