Speaking of the 4Gig patch, I finally ran it for my FS2004 install a couple of weeks ago.. ..and became a believer.
For those who don't know about it, the "patch" makes some minor changes to your game's registry entry so it can access up to 4 Gigabytes of RAM.
What's important to understand about the patch-
-You MUST have your game installed somewhere
besides the typical Program Files (X86) main folder.
-The patch does basically nothing in terms of frame rate or over-all play-abilty. All you get is access to more RAM.
-Speaking of, you need to be able to access that extra RAM without shutting down your entire system. You should have 16 Gigs of RAM installed to play around with.
