welcome martin.
it sounds as if you are in-port and you upgraded your deck gun or changed the location of your deck gun from for to aft or vice versa.
this is a known issue with the Stock game and none of the mega-mods will fix it.
only two ways to fix the issue:
1. go back to the previous version of the boat prior to making the change and do not make a change to the deck gun.
2. use the work-around to create the crew positions. this solution requires some skill on your part in using Notepad.
