Boredom was setting in doing mission after mission, so the option to go "freelancing" was quite attractive...
It's spring 1943 and my boat's home port is Brisbane. After completing an assigned mission I stopped at Tulagi to get fuel and thought I'd take a break from the routine and see what damage I could do in the Slot and the Bismarck Sea NW of Rabaul... Talk about a Happy Hunting Ground...
Using Tulagi as a TDY base I spent three months sinking 87 ships while running up a total of 500000+ tons of Rising Sun merchants, sampans and a DD... Nice break from the usual game flow...
