Allman Brothers, live at the Filmore East is widely regarded as one of the very best live albums ever to be recorded. Stormy Monday was originally recorded by T-Bone Walker but this is an excellent rendition of this song. The guitar playing interplay between Duane Allman and Dickey Betts is great and something that few modern artists can even aspire to. In fact, the entire album is fantastic, showing you can play slow and with passion and still get your message across. Other live albums that are in the same category would include Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet band-live.

This live session was recorded over a 3 day span in New York in 1971. Sadly, guitarist and founding member Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle crash a few weeks after this live album was recorded.
