I wonder if one or more of the binary files might be corrupted. As I recall, some of us had this problem with GWX 2.0 .
It is recommended to check the MD5 Hashes for file integrity, see in instructions below .
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/ is where you can get MD5Mate from, to check the hashes
Here are then instructs again - just in case you missed a vital bit
GWX 2.0 Installation instructions:
1. Create a fresh/brand new installation of SH3 patched to version 1.4b
2. Go into your "My Documents" and delete the "SH3" folder you find there. Old Silent Hunter III careers will not be compatible with GWX 2.0
3. Create a new folder on your desktop and label it "GWX 2.0"
4. Download the "GWX2.exe file and all seven .bin files to the folder you just created on your desktop.
5. It is recommended that you burn these files to CD's or a DVD for safe-keeping
6. Double click the GWX2.exe file and follow the directions that appear.
Users can verify GWX 2.0 file integrity with the following MD5 hash if they so choose:
