Read the whole story. The Sheriff is not the bad guy here. If anything, he did all he could to help.
This story reinforces the point made during the first 5 minutes of the movie
Idiocracy. (I thought the movie sucked, but the part where they explained the damage being done to the gene pool by stupid people made a lot of sense).
It's a shame what happened, but it was the result of her bad decisions, not the Sheriff's.
