You could try with a new card but with a AGP slot on your motherboard you will have little choice to make. The new PCI express slot means double the bandwidth. The standard today is PCI express 2.0 and all the new videocards work with this standard. However there are a few modern video cards that have been released for a AGP slot.
I believe that ATI has a Radeon 3850 for an AGP slot and it is a good entry level card, but you must take into consideration your PSU because these new card need more power than the old ones. Another option will be a complete upgrade of your PC
For example: in 2002 AGP 8x slot had a potential bandwidth of 2gb/s
in 2004 PCI express 1.0 had 8gb/s
in 2007 PCI express 2.0 has 16gb/
