Yes you can, but don't expect it to stick. I gave up correcting people's English long ago, as it only makes them say things like "Don't be such a pedant!", and gives you headaches.

And the worst offenders are not people for whom English is a second language. It's the ones with US and UK addresses who should know better, but usually don't know or don't care.

Good point, no more pedantry for me. Your correct, those of us with English as a first language get very lazy with our native tongue.

I blame it all on the current craze of 'text' type......my daughter sends me a text and I have no idea what it is supposed to say so I end up using my free minutes calling her to find out what she was talking about.....tut!
