I grew up in the 80s and I had my first bike then. MotoGP doesn't stand a chance to replace in my heart the 500cc monsters of that era, Rainey (My personal idol), Schwantz, Lawson, Gardner, Doohan, Beattie.....
When I look at the grid today and see who is riding the MotoGPs and how they do it, I nearly want to cry (Except for Valentino Rossi and Capirossi, that is). They now depend like F1 on having the best technology and tyres, and the rider means very little. Compare this to Rainey battling out the Hondas in an inferior Yamaha and you will see what I mean. None of this modern riders would even match the middle part of the grid if competing back in the 80s with those bikes
