I've only encountered one task force in all the time I have played myself and they zig-zaged away before I even got a glimpse. After I knew they had lost me I 'cheated' and used camera view to chase them down and it was a Illustrious carrier and escorts.
Perhaps better not to have known.
I'm now in the Med in '42 so maybe I'll see something.
