Maybe not that bad! At "fast" speeds they're somewhat or toatally deaf sonarwise. You can still go flank and manouver. |
Oh trust me we scratched for the bottom in crash dive made a turn all at flank, once the DD's arrived on the scene they went into the tag team mode. One drifts and listens while the other stomps about dropping cans.
By this time we were at 210 feet running silent. I never heard the passing thermal announcement... regardless we got away. Fortunatly we had enough manuver room before they arrived and they never got a fix on us again.
Good thing too.. funny how its re-assuring to hear the distant booms of DC's being dropped on the wrong spot.
and drop alot of them they did, sounded like a thunderstorm.
