Kipparikalle, you were on the northern end of the barrage. The mines are spread thinner there.
Give it time. You roll the dice long enough and you'll come up snake-eyes every time.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that these mines are set at different depths so diving deep will only work just so much. Since the barrages are meant to stop a submerged u-boat, you can try to sail on the surface to avoid most of the mines but that's not a foolproof solution because you will encounter mines that are set shallow.
There is a clear lane to allow convoys and other shipping traffic to move freely up and down the coast.
Just because you haven't hit one yet doesn't mean the mines aren't there. :p
This is war, after all, with a hundred ways to die before you've even had your morning coffee ration.
