I nearly bought a P90 for a laugh (I don't do airsoft but I love the design of those guns) but then I read up on the restrictions on buying them in the UK, registering with a club etc. etc.

True enough, so join a club, you wouldn't want a P90 and not shoot someone with it would you?
I think some shops include a membership if they also have an airsoft site. I don't know any down Somerset way though, Ground Zero near Prtsmouth may be your best bet.
