Sky, sorry I wasn't clear enough, it was indeed software, not something attached to a board - I'm not that advanced!!
In the end the software took more than half an hour with no move decided, and so it lost the game. Bit of a shame but thats ok, I started a new game and was comprehensively pantsed!
