There is no 'Abandon Ship' order in SH3 or SH4. It would be nice if you could surrender, or abandon ship somewhere and have a chance of being rescued, or captured, but they didn't do that.

You say that as if no one has ever heard of one until now. Somebody saying they replenished subs at sea doesn't make it so. I've never heard of a case of that happening. I was on a destroyer, not a sub, but our tenders were strictly harbor-bound. Their function was to serve as a portable base for the small ships. They had full repair facilities and everything you could want but a drydock, but they were too precious to send scurrying around helping wayward lambs.

I had fun getting towed home in SH1, but I never heard of that happening in real life either.
