Start researching hull size. Doesn't matter much though at you stage since the enemy won't have the tech to build anything better than you if you manage it right.
I doubt another race will sell you hull size upgrades too. They horde it for themselves. You will have to reasearch it on your own.
Small is what you have. Medium is next.
