That's what you get for following your orders: 500 renown points for reachin your grid, and another 200 for patroling it.

SH3 is not a mission based game, and you won't get any other kind of mission. The only change will be the sector you will be assigned to patrol. Of course, once you complete your mission's objective, don't return to base, but stay at sea as long as you have torpedoes and fuel left. You don't have to stay in your assigned grid, you have the freedom to go anywhere you want (a freedom of choice that the real world u-boat captains didn't have). You can use the map provided with the game to plan your patrol in order to sink as many ships. Searching this forum can also point you in the right direction for best hunting grounds.

I would suggest you to complete a patrol or two with the stock game, to get yourself customized with the controls and the game in general, and to install GWX 2.1. It will give you a much satisfying experience of an u-boat kaleun.
