TMOplot 1.0 is aimed at two groups of players. The first is players moving from TMO to RFB, recognizing that RFB is where the action is now. Personally I find the submarine superior to TMO. The interior is nicer, including animated fans, the orders bar dials enlarge when your mouse is using them for more precise input that is much easier to read. I love the stopwatch and the huge amount of work that went into making the torpedoes as historically accurate as possible. All this, in my judgment, is better than TMO. Then at some point you are in battle and look at the RFB plotting system.
Yike! You say. This has to go. But how? Well, if you think about it one of the greatest parts of TMO is the plotting system. All contacts are black spots, not colored silhouettes. There are no velocity vectors to tell you at a glance what the enemy course is. When you click on an enemy contact it doesn't say course and speed. Passive sonar vectors look like stock but they are all black. If you're worked with it, you love it.
TMOplot 1.0 plugs almost all of that wonderfulness into RFB and because it comes from the RFB Team it is certified not to break any of the other features of the supermod. In fact you don't even need to return to port to install it! There are two gotchas in there right now that we're working on but they're not deal breakers.
Right now, if you click on a contact, the @$@# velocity vector pops up. You'll also still get "course nnw, speed slow." These two are doomed, I say!

But it's plenty good enough to release while we puzzle this out.
The last thing is that the torpedo silhouette on the attack screen isn't working yet. That's a minor thing that just slipped past us and will be fixed quickly.Edit: it is working now in TMOplot 1.0.
The second group that will be interested in TMOplot is everybody else. If you're playing stock or Fall of the Rising Sun, you can plug in TMOplot and have the great TMO plotting system instantly! Players of the stock game may be complaining that just because they spot a ship hull down at 11 miles, they shouldn't instantly know whether it is friendly, neutral or enemy, they shouldn't know what kind of ship it is and they shouldn't instantly know the course by inspection even with radar. Well if that is all that's bugging you or if you like to roll your own SH4 this is a perfect mod for you to try out. It will give you appropriate information within the hardwired capabilities of the game and really contribute to your feeling of accomplishment when you sink that tanker that was too easy yesterday.
Stay tuned for the last tweaks. There are other people working on a stock plotting plug-in for RFB and TMO. That will be equally exciting!
