Or you can do like I used to, and combine the 'R's. Right is red, except it's not, so I would say "Right is red is wrong", and then I would have it right.

Actually (did you want a real answer, or am going way off the beaten path?), they used to have a steering board instead of a rudder, and the "Steer Board" was on the right side, so the boat was always docked with the left side against the pier, facing the port. The left side was sometimes called the "Lee Board", which became "Larbord" to the British and "Backboard" to the Germans.
