I thought that I might do that as well. Downloaded Google Earth and played around with it and thought it a pretty cool program. 
I remember the post you're talking about and looking at his example. It was pretty cool what he did.
Then I started to think about all of the time it might take to plot my patrols and decided it wasn't worth it. My playing time is kinda limited as it is and I'd rather use the time playing the game instead.
