I understand, but the insurance company will still hike up the rate because you made a claim. Even though it is not your fault and at fault party has insurance. They have all these little discounts that they give you and one of them is "no accident". Unless you totally leave them out of it and go through the guilty party's insurance.

You are talking form a perspective of one that changes insurance companies on a whim. I've had Hartford for 12+ years, and now I have Met Life and have had them for about the same number of years. They do not do this to loyal customers. They would lower my rates in such a situation.
