Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I know it's a huge amount, but basically this happened: I chose to start off in Flotilla 2, so I could drive the IXB subs. Instead I found myself requesting a transfer and arriving in Wilhelmshaven with an IIA. 9000 renown was needed to upgrade, and with 5 torpedoes, even assuming none are duds and I never miss (which I don't :rotfl

, 9000 seems like forever away (case and point: last night I ran across a lightly escorted convoy full of fat merchants...no problems intercepting, middle of the night, every advantage on my side. I was able to sink two ships, with a class VIIx I probably could have gotten at least 3 or 4).

I just wanted a large enough amount, once, so I wouldn't have to worry about it later (as usually I can make enough renown between patrols to outfit with the newest upgrades). In retrospect, simply a one-time award of 9000 will be fine.
