Don't run Vista myself but it sounds like that's not the problem. How far from home base are you when "exit patrol"? If you're more than 25km from a friendly port all sorts of weird things might happen. If you use the "Warp back to base function" from mid-ocean, you will frequently find yourself on the sea-floor..

on my first complete{well not so "complete"after all}patrol i hit the end patrol button and when i docked i found that i could award a iron cross 2nd class and 17 u-boat badges to my crew.but i was'nt awarded anything.this after sinking 9 merchants for 34,300 tonnes.i admit its not exactly 100.000 but i think i should have gotten SOMETHING.
