That is true, but remember that the longest hit ever made on a naval target was when
Scharnhorst and
Gneisenau sank HMS
Glorious. Scharnhorst hit
Glorious at a range of 26,465 yards, or about 13 nautical miles. And
Scharnhorst definitely had the newest, best fire control equipment.
