Glad to know I'm not the only who stays on the surface. I've heard people say they just stop and sit at periscope and wait on a target. Thats all fine and well if you know they course your enemy is coming on, although a complete stop is unrealistic as you would begin to fall deeper into the water, and I can understand a deep to listen in rough weather, with visbility limited, and NO radar.
Plus, it hard to come up with a 90 degree AOB with just a hydrophone bearing, although I'm sure its possible with some math (and a calculator for me

)
