It appears to me its RAM/resource specific, if you run out of resources b4 it loads it seems to crash.
My rig is not that fancy, 2 GB RAM, AMD64 3500+, ATI x9800 (512RAM).
When it has failed to load, RAM usage has got to 1.3 GB and stopped rising. I may be off the make with this... but when the RAM stops rising and game has not loaded.. it's knacked! That's my technical assessment!
