Yeah..those historical documentaries are informative and interesting but seldom do they transfer intact to game play, now do they?
I imagine that (reliability) depends on which mod or mod combo you decide to use or if you play entirely unmodded or make alterations yourself...and oh yeah..your difficulty options figure in. So there is no real cut and dried answer for that question. Sorry.
