You can't adjust this. The GWX guys made things work this way on purpose. It's just a matter of adjusting your tactics now. GWX isn't the arcade shooter that stock is.

The ship behaviors and sensors are a lot more realistic than stock (and therefore a LOT tougher unless you adjust your tactics to deal with it).

My suggestions. Play it safe. go slow. Silent running. Go deep when they're coming for you.
