I know this is not a modding issue, but I wonder if anyone out there has had a problem such as this with both SH3 and SHIV.

I have been using an ATI Radeon 850 quite happily until recently. I started getting the intro movie (on both Silent Hunters) in 16 bit colour (or less) and the sim hangs at various points before actually getting into a mission/campaign with a VPU error. OK - I bought a new card (ATI 3650) and I am getting the same on that. I get about 1 minute into a campaign and the screen blanks, monitor goes into powersave, end of story. SH4 is the same

Has anyone any experience of this, and better still any solutions?
