yeah, they do take ages. If i'm going on a long patrol, i'll usually submerge and cruise at 1 knot until the batteries or air get down to 25%, then I surface. I submerge because its quite a good way to conserve fuel. But, taking 4 or 5 days game time for them to fully recharge can be seen as a handicap.
What if you suddeny are in a combat situation as need as much battery as possible for submerged maneuvers?
