WTF??? I've never heard about this, and I should know as I live in Austria. BTW what's so bad about outlawing the use of apes in medical experiments and for use in filming in Spain? And by what logic is acknowledging the right to live free for a species, making the human equal to apes? For all I know there are quite a few species that are forbidden to import to the US, because they are endangered by extinction and should live free in their natural habitat, so I guess that makes them by your logic also equal to humans.

We don't herd them like kettle, to slaughter them, nor do we drink their milk, so the only purpose they are kept here is to either a) exploit them or b) to keep them from becoming extinct. Judging from the article, it's much of a, and some of b. So why shouldn't they be set free if they aren't held appropriate, or the keepers be penalized if they don't provide an appropriate habitat for them? Just because they are animals, they should continue suffering or what?
