Because history, or narrative if you wish, was not written the same as we see today. A persons "entire biography" was not a relevant thing to the Hebrews. It was common practice to write about the significant things a person did, not what kind of cloth was used in his/her diaper or what his/her favorite smashed fruit was...
That would be a style developed by "modern" biographers and TMZ...
