Way back in 1971, the year I moved to Utah, also marked the opening of the Snowbird Ski Resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon. As part of the opening ceremonies they had a very good professional start at the top of the highest peak on skis with a paraglider, take to the air and land on the roof of one of the lodges. All caught on camera for my personal enjoyment, of course.
A year later they were selling gift passes. The billboards got mixed reviews in Mormonland: "Give someone you love the 'Bird this Christmas."
